KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Snow Squall Watch and a Blowing Snow Advisory for Kawartha Lakes.
Officials say snow squalls possible tonight with local snowfall accumulations of an additional 10 to 15 cm. Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 3 cm per hour is possible causing poor visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow tonight through Friday afternoon.
Snow squalls off Georgian Bay may develop tonight before weakening Friday afternoon. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Poor visibility in blowing snow today is also possible with near zero visibility at times in blowing snow. Drifted snow on roadways impacting travel now through early Friday morning.
