KAWARTHA LAKES-A 25-year-old Coboconk man is facing charges after the OPP received reports of a vehicle in the ditch idling for several hours.
On January 22nd, 2025, at 7:35 a.m. officers responded to the scene on Country Lane and located the vehicle in the ditch. After speaking with the driver, police entered an investigation for impaired driving.
As a result, Josh Kierstead-Oliver from Coboconk was arrested and charged with
- Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Driving while under suspension
- Fail to report accident
The accused was released from custody with a future court date and served with a 90-day driver’s licence suspension The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
The passenger in the vehicle was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for having liquor in open container in unauthorized place.
