Kawartha Lakes Food Source’s Executive Director Has Resigned

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Food Source announced today that Heather Kirby, Executive Director since 2016, has resigned to “further develop her professional goals and personal achievements”.

Since starting at Kawartha Lakes Food Source, Kirby has built on the organization’s established foundation, focusing on providing more food to more people by developing programs like the Open Gardens, Family Cooking Project and the Lindsay Community Food Market. These are all ways that the community can access food supports directly from Kawartha Lakes Food Source when they might need additional support.

Kawartha Lakes Food Source is a not-for-profit distribution centre in Lindsay which supplies food and personal care items to member organizations that provide support to individuals in need.

Officials say throughout Kirby’s tenure, she strengthened the operations and governance by establishing a Strategic Plan, a Risk Management Plan, a Handbook for Governance, and completed the necessary work to achieve national accreditation through Food Banks Canada.

“It was a privilege helping the community through my work at Kawartha Lakes Food Source. It was a bittersweet decision for me. Looking ahead at my professional development is very exciting for me,” says Kirby about her upcoming departure.

Kawartha Lakes Food Source will be sharing recruitment plans in the near future.
