Team At The Omemee Curling Centre Scores An Eight-Ender!

KAWARTHA LAKES-What Are the Odds? A team at the Omemee Curling Centre scored an Eight-Ender on December 30, 2024

On the morning of Mon. Dec. 30th, Team Fox comprised of Neil Rossen, Annie Stovell, Tom Bent, and Ron Fox from the Omemee Curling Centre achieved one of curling’s rarest feats: an eight-ender.

An eight-ender, often referred to as curling’s “perfect end,” is when all eight stones score for one team in a single end. According to Curling Canada, this extraordinary accomplishment is so rare that the organization offers a special award to recognize it.

Just how rare is an eight-ender?

Consider this:

  • The odds of a golfer hitting a hole-in-one are 1 in 12,500.

  • The chance of finding a pearl in an oyster is 1 in 10,000.

  • The likelihood of an amateur bowler rolling a perfect game is 1 in 11,500.

And the odds of curling an eight-ender? A staggering 1 in 120,000!

Wow! Congratulations to all involved!
