NORTHUMBERLAND-The Northumberland OPP is investigating a collision which resulted in the closure of westbound lanes on Highway 401.
On November 9, 2024, shortly before 5:30 a.m., Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and OPP responded to a report of a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. One person was reported to have sustained injuries.
Police arrived on scene where a tractor-trailer was on its side with debris and cargo having been strewn across the lanes, both shoulders and into the north ditch.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
A 56-year-old tractor-trailer driver, from Woodstock, New Brunswick, has been charged with Careless driving. No name was released.
Westbound lanes were closed in the area with an emergency detour route in place until around 2:00 p.m. when the highway was opened following cleanup and removal of vehicles.
