Lock 26 In Lakefield To Undergo Essential Off-Season Maintenance Which Could Impede Access

KAWARTHAS-Parks Canada announced that starting Thursday, November 14, 2024, scheduled activities will commence to dewater Lock 26 for essential off-season maintenance.

On November 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., a crane will be in operation on Katherine Street, South, adjacent to Lock 26—Lakefield. During this period, vehicle access may be temporarily impeded to accommodate the crane and ensure public safety. We encourage any visitors impacted by these activities to use the parking available at the lockstation via Hill Street. Pedestrian access across the lock gates will be available, allowing easy access to parked vehicles.

“Parks Canada thanks residents and visitors for their patience and understanding as we complete this work as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the long-term operational reliability and preservation of Lock 26.” said officials.
