Organics Recycling Program Coming To Kawartha Lakes In January

KAWARTHA LAKES-A new curbside organics collection program is coming to parts of Kawartha Lakes in January 2025.

The program helps residents dispose of food and organic waste, which make up over 30% of household waste. The City says the program will reduce landfill use, extend landfill life and help reach the goal of diverting 70% of waste from our landfills by 2048.

If you live in the urban areas of Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay and Omemee your address is included in the program.

Organic bins will be delivered to impacted addresses in November, and the first pick-up of the organic bins will commence in January.  You will separate food and organic waste using two bins: a countertop kitchen catcher and a 45L curbside rollout cart with organics collected on Friday. The first collection will be Saturday January 4th due to the holiday.

Your regular garbage and recycling collection will stay the same.
