Arson And Attempted Murder Investigation Underway After Fire At Homeless Encampments In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-Police are investigating after a suspicious fire at a homeless encampment in Lindsay.

On November 1st, 2024 at approximately 5:09am the Kawartha Lakes Police Service along with Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue responded to a Fire in the area of Bond Street Lindsay.  Upon arrival officers observed a tent encampment and surrounding area fully engulfed in flames.  Fortunately, the resident and pet were able to escape without harm.   

Shortly after at approximately 6:20am Kawartha Lakes Police and Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue attended another tent on fire in the area of Colborne Street East in Lindsay.  There were no occupants in that tent at the time of the fire. 

Police say both fires are believed to have been intentionally set and are being investigated as Arsons.

Police are looking to speak with the individuals in the photograph of the truck which was caught on CCTV leaving the Bond Street area at the time of the arson.
