100 Women Who Care Donates $13,500 To “A Place Called Home” In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Place Called Home is beyond thrilled to have received $13,150.00 from 100 Women Who Care Kawartha Lakes to help support their Drop-In Services, previously called Outreach Services.

Currently, A Place Called Home is supporting 30-40 people living outside or in tents through their Drop-In Services. These services provide one meal a day, access to bathroom, shower and laundry facilities, and most importantly support services from qualified shelter staff to help resolve barriers to housing instability.

Jen Lopinski, Fund Development Coordinator states, “This amazing gift of funding will help us to support as many vulnerable people as we can.  The demand for support is very high and winter is coming.  This past September we supported an average of 71 individuals equating to over 500 different visits. We served 476 Meals and 187 coffee and snacks. We truly appreciate this incredible support from 100 Women Who Care Kawartha Lakes!”

A Place Called Home is the only emergency shelter that serves families and individuals in the City of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton. Although they receive funding from the City of Kawartha Lakes and the Province of Ontario to fund their Shelter program and Drop-In Services, officials say this special donation will enable them to help as many vulnerable individuals as possible.

Anyone requiring shelter and support may contact A Place Called Home at (705) 328-0905.
