KAWARTHA LAKES-A family in Thurstonia lost everything in a hose fire on Saturday night.

Crews were called to the home on Cherryhill Road just before 9pm. Fire Chief Terry Jones told Kawartha 411 news the home was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived.

Crews from Dunsford, Bobcaygeon, Ops and Emily responded to the blaze. Jones says the home is a total loss and damage is pegged at around $600,000. None of the residents were injured but a family pet was lost according to Jones.

Officials say the cause is undetermined but not considered suspicious.
