Ross Memorial Hospital Introduces New Doctor For Family Birthing Centre

KAWARTHA LAKES-Ross Memorial Hospital introduced Dr. Kingsley Mensah as the new Obstetrician-Gynecologist in the hospital’s Dr. Gargi Bhatia Family Birthing Centre.

Dr. Mensah brings with him 30 years of experience as a medical practitioner. He has been running his own practice and working out of Aberdeen Regional Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, since 2020. Before that, he ran his practice in Johannesburg, South Africa, and worked out of Dr SK Matseke Memorial Hospital from 2003 to 2020.

“I am excited to join Ross Memorial Hospital and the Kawartha Lakes community,” says Dr. Mensah. “Patients can expect that I will be providing safe, comprehensive, and patient-centred care during one of the most important journeys of their lives. I look forward to implementing my skillset developed over decades of experience to make a positive impact within the hospital and community at-large.”

Dr. Mensah says part of the allure of relocating to Kawartha Lakes for Dr. Mensah was to be closer to his children who are nearby.

“The addition of Dr. Kingsley Mensah to our hospital’s Dr. Gargi Bhatia Family Birthing Centre is very exciting,” adds Kelly Isfan, President and CEO of Ross Memorial Hospital. “Dr. Mensah is an excellent, dedicated physician who will play a significant role in the obstetrics care our community relies on.”

Dr. Mensah’s office is now accepting referrals that can be provided by local family physicians, midwives or via Walk-In or Virtual Care Clinics.

Ross Memorial Hospital’s Dr. Gargi Bhatia Family Birthing Centre is a family-centred maternity unit that delivers approximately 300 babies per year. It is a Level 1b centre, which means that a team of obstetricians, family physicians, midwives and nurses provide comprehensive care for pregnant patients with low-risk, healthy pregnancies, and their newborns.
