York Regional Police Say Suspects Vehicle In Missing Persons Case Travelled To Kirkfield

KAWARTHA LAKES-Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Unit have laid charges in connection with a missing woman from the City of Markham.

Ying Zhang was last seen on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at approximately 10:40 a.m. in the area of Woodbine Avenue and Steelcase Road and has not yet been located.

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, investigators charged a suspect.

Investigators have released images of the accused and his vehicle and are searching for additional witnesses in the area at the time.

A white Ford van was seen in the area and a suspect was seen with a large green wheeled bin near the van at the time of Zhang’s disappearance.

There is information that the suspect vehicle travelled to the Village of Kirkfield, in the City of Kawartha Lakes, on the afternoon of July 25.

 

Accused:

  • Changlin YANG, 26, of East Gwillimbury

Charges:

  • Kidnapping
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Aggravated Assault

Suspect Vehicle:

  • White Ford van
  • Ontario licence plate BZ43851
