PETERBOROUGH-Three people are facing charges after an incident involving an alleged Housing Unit Takeover on Tuesday evening.
Officers were conducting a well-being check at a residence on Fairbairn Street in Peterborough at approximately 7pm on April 30th. Upon knocking on the door a 24-year-old man exited the residence with a gunshot wound to the leg according to police. He was treated at the scene by EMS and taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for further treatment. It was learned there were more people in the residence. Officers with the Emergency Response Team, K9 and RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) Units set up and the residence was cleared by officers.
As a result of the incident,
A 22-year-old St.Catharines man was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
A 16-year-old Whitby male was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
A 15-year-old Ajax male was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
The accused are being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 1, 2024.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of two accused cannot be released. Police did not release the third name.
During the arrests officers say they seized:
- 28.5 grams of fentanyl
- Canadian currency
Peterborough Police will remain at the scene until the investigation is completed.
