KAWARTHA LAKES-A 28-year-old Omemee man is facing charges after a traffic complaint on April 23.
At approximately 1:28 a.m., officers received a complaint about an ATV allegedly speeding up and down residential roads. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the motor vehicle in a residential area of Omemee and the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences and several Highway Traffic Act offences.
Brandon Fisher, 28-year-old of Omemee, was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
- Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Operator Motor Vehicle without Insurance
- Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle
- Failed to Wear Proper Helmet
- Drive Motor Vehicle – Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device
- Drive Motor Vehicle No Plates
- Unlawfully Drive Off Road Vehicle on Highway
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.
Police say if you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
