UPDATE:Cancelled
KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and damaging toonie sized hail. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Fenelon Falls, Balsam Lake Park and Northern Kawartha Lakes.
Wind gusts near 90 km/h are possible this afternoon into early this evening as a line of thunderstorms developed over Georgian Bay and is tracking east over central Ontario. This line of thunderstorms has shown indications of hail approaching toonie size along with strong wind gusts. Thunderstorms are expected to weaken this evening.
Officials say very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall.
