Kawartha Lakes Police Service Announces Next Chief

KAWARTHA LAKES- The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Services Board has announced the selection of Inspector Kirk Robertson as the next Chief of Police for the Kawartha Lakes Police Service.

The announcement comes after an extensive, nationwide search, facilitated by Waterhouse Executive Search.

In October 2022, Chief Mark Mitchell announced his intention to retire in August 2024.

Chief designate Robertson has been a member of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service for 22 years and has a total of 27 years of policing service. Kirk has a broad array of experience with the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, including uniform patrol, criminal investigations and the institutional investigation unit. Kirk was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2019. Kirk was also born and raised in Lindsay, where he continues to reside with his wife, Kim, and their two children.

“The Police Services Board are excited to work together with Chief designate Robertson in continuing to build on the long-standing tradition of excellence in public safety service to our community. Chief designate Robertson will start in his new role on May 18, taking over from Chief Mark Mitchell who is retiring. A formal change of command ceremony will take place in August of this year. ” said the board in a press release.

Congratulations!
