Nine People Charged In Drug Investigation In Quinte West

KAWARTHAS-OPP charged nine people following the execution of a search warrant in Quinte West.

On April 3, 2024, at approximately 05:00 a.m., the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the Quinte West Detachment, executed a search warrant at a residence on King Street, Trenton, as part of a drug trafficking investigation. As a result, nine people were arrested resulting in cash, ammunition, suspected cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine being confiscated according to police.

46-year-old Brian Calladine from Bancroft, 32-year-old Olivia Kargus and Jonathan Spradbrow, 35 years old from Quinte West were charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)

Tanya Cooper, 45 years old and Dana Parker, 40 years old from Quinte West were charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Joseph Veleke, 33 years old from Quinte West was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

51-year-old John Clarke from Quinte West was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

Brenda Banks, 36 years old from Quinte West was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

John McDade, 35 years old from Quinte West was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

Brian Calladine, Tanya Cooper, Olivia Kargus and Dana Parker were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on a future court date. The other five accused were held for a bail hearing.
