Driver Stopped At RIDE Program Charged With Impaired

PETERBOROUGH-A driver has been charged with Impaired driving (80 plus) after their vehicle was stopped at a R.I.D.E. check on March 28, 2024.

On March 28, 2024, at approximately 10:20pm, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program at the intersection of Drummond Line and Division Street. A vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. and officers spoke with the driver reading them the Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. Police say the driver provided a sample of their breath and as a result was arrested.

34-year-old Coady Jackman of Selwyn Township, ON, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available and Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 23, 2024.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
