Charges Laid After Driver Allegedly Went Through Stop Sign And Struck Another Vehicle

KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officers responded to a motor vehicle collision and entered into an impaired driving investigation on February 24, 2024.

Police say at approximately 4:35 pm, officers commenced an impaired driving investigation with the driver of a motor vehicle after they drove through a stop sign and struck a westbound vehicle on Boundary Road causing a motor vehicle collision.

Asid Islam 30 years old of Scarborough was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine
  • Disobey Stop Sign
  • Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
