KAWARTHA LAKES-Due to improving weather and road conditions, Kawartha Lakes is lifting the temporary load restrictions that were placed on all roads throughout the municipality on February 7, 2024.
All road load restrictions, except those that are permanently reduced load restricted, will be lifted effective at 5am on Thursday February 15, 2024.
“Thank you to drivers and operators for your cooperation during the restricted period, and for helping to maintain the integrity of our road network.As always, Kawartha Lakes will continue to monitor road conditions and will reinstate restrictions when required.” says the City.
Permanently Reduced Load Restricted Roads
Weight limit is 5,000 kilograms (per axle):
- Blackschool Road from Simcoe Street to County Road 46
- Victoria Road from 150 metres north of McNamee Road to 2,600 metres south of McNamee Road
Weight limit is 5,000 kilograms (total vehicle weight including load and occupants)*:
- Centennial Park Road from Kirkfield Road to Portage Road
- Rohallion Road from Centennial Park Road to the Mara/Carden Boundary (County Road 47)
- Hartley Road (Mitchell Lake Causeway) from Robinson Avenue to Portage Road
- Northline Road from County Road 121 to Sommerville 3rd Concession
- Sommerville 6th Concession from Burnt River Road to Northline Road
- Kirkfield Road from Portage Road to 1,500 metres north of the Kirkfield Lift Lock
- Bury’s Green Road from County Road 49 to County Road 121
- County Road 24 from Mansfield Street to Kenstone Beach Road
Commercial Through Traffic of Any Weight Class:
- Yelverton Road from Gray Road to Janetville Road
- Ballyduff Road from Manvers/Scugog Townline to 375 metres west of Highway 35
- Waite Road from Manvers/Scugog Townline to Highway 35
- Drum Road from Manvers/Scugog Townline to 1,700 metres easterly
- Broad Street from Angeline Street to Wallace Drive
- Wallace Drive from Mclaughlin Road to Broad Street
- Commerce Road from Briarwood Avenue to 230 metres northerly
*Per By-Law 2022-190, outside of the spring reduced load period, properties that front on these road sections with no other means of access via an alternative, unrestricted highway, may be exempt from the above restriction at the discretion of the Director.
