Lakefield College School Set To Host OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championship

KAWARTHAS-Lakefield College School will welcome over 600 skiers to its campus from across Ontario for the 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championship on February 22 and 23.

The event is presented by Wild Rock Outfitters and hosted by CISAA and Kawartha Nordic at Lakefield College School and will bring together top student-athletes from across Ontario to compete on Lakefield’s renowned Nordic skiing trails.

“We are honoured to welcome talented athletes from across the province to our campus for the 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championship,” said Todd Harris, Nordic Skiing Coach at Lakefield College School. “This event not only showcases the skill and dedication of our young athletes but also highlights Lakefield’s commitment to outdoor education and athletic excellence.”

Lakefield College School’s beautiful campus boasts some of the best Nordic skiing trails in the area and serves as the perfect setting for racing events. The school’s state-of-the-art facilities will also provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for all the athletes, coaches, and spectators attending the championships.

“Hosting the OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championship is a testament to the exceptional facilities and natural beauty of our campus,” said Adam Ross, Director of Athletics at Lakefield College School. “We are thrilled to showcase our commitment to outdoor sports and community engagement through this prestigious event.”

“Local retailer Wild Rock Outfitters has offered support on many fronts over the last three years in the lead-up to hosting the 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championship, culminating in their signing on as our title sponsor. We are also grateful for the support of Rundle Nordic, Lakefield Home Hardware, and Kingdon Timber Mart,” said Harris.

Local residents are invited to attend the event as spectators or volunteers and are encouraged to cheer on the LCS team, local skiers, and all the other athletes competing.
