Taser Used At Peterborough Court House

PETERBOROUGH-A Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW) was used during an arrest at the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Police say on January 4, 2024, members of the Peterborough County OPP went to the Ontario Court of Justice to arrest a man wanted on an outstanding Warrant. According to police, the man resisted officers when advised of the arrest, failing to comply with any directions being given to them. Officers attempted to take physical control of the individual but due to resistance, were required to take the suspect to the ground. The accused became actively resistant while officers attempted to handcuff him, resulting in the deployment of a CEW to gain control.

50-year-old James Armstrong of Willow Beach, ON., was arrested and charged with Assault a Peace Officer and Resist Peace Officer.

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.
