Norwood Man Charged With Impaired Driving After Calling Police On Himself

PETERBOROUGH-Police say a driver has been charged with impaired driving after contacting police to report a collision.

On December 26, 2023, just prior to 1:00am, the Peterborough County OPP received a call from an individual advising that while driving impaired, their vehicle left the roadway and was now in a ditch on Highway 7 in Asphodel-Norwood Township. The driver was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment and was met there by police. While officers spoke with the driver, the driver reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel of the car. Officers were able to detect signs of impairment and as a result, the driver was arrested.

28-year-old Sean White of Norwood was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation, Operation while impaired-alcohol, Operation while impaired-alcohol – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Driving while under suspension and Fail to properly wear seatbelt.

The accused had their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 6, 2024.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
