KAWARTHA LAKES-Please take note of the following municipal services and hours of operation over the holiday break (December 22 to January 2):
Municipal Administration
All municipal administration offices will close at 12pm on Friday, December 22, 2023 and re-open at 8:30am on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. This includes:
- City Hall
- Municipal Services Centres
- Public Works administration
- Parks and Recreation administration
- Fire and Rescue administration
- Paramedic Service administration
- Provincial Offences Office
- Waste Management administration
Municipal Waste Services
All landfills will be closed on December 25, December 26 and January 1.
The Laxton Landfill will be open on December 24 and December 31 from 8am to 12pm.
The Lindsay Ops Landfill will be open to the public for regular business hours from December 27 to December 30. After the January 1 closure, it will return to regular business hours on Tuesday, January 2.
Due to the holiday on Monday, December 25, all regular collection days will be moved forward one day during the week of December 25:
- Monday’s collection will be Tuesday (Boxing Day)
- Tuesday’s collection will be Wednesday
- Wednesday’s collection will be Thursday
- Thursday’s collection will be Friday
Public Library
All Kawartha Lakes Public Library branches will be closed on December 25, December 26 and January 1.
Library branches will be open for regular hours from December 27 to December 31. After the January 1 closure, regular hours for all branches will resume on Tuesday, January 2.

Parks and Recreation
The Lindsay Recreation Complex (LRC) will close at 12pm on December 24 and December 31, and will be closed all day on December 25, December 26 and January 1. The Weight Room hours at the LRC on December 24 and 31 will be 8am to 11:30am.
No fitness classes will take place on December 24 or December 31. However, new this holiday season, Parks and Recreation will be offering fitness classes from December 27 to January 6 at the LRC for current members. Members are also invited to bring a friend with them, free of charge, to the holiday classes. Read the full story for more information.
The Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre in Bobcaygeon will be closed December 24 through December 26, and on December 31 and January 1.
Looking for something to do with the family this holiday season? Additional Holiday Public Swims have been added to the schedules in Lindsay and Bobcaygeon. Read the full story for more information. Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on December 25 and January 1. Transit will be running business as usual during the rest of the holiday break.
Human Services
The Human Services offices will be closed at 12pm on December 22 through December 26. The office will reopen for regular business hours on December 27 and December 28.
On December 29, it will close again at 12pm and it will remain closed until 8:30am on January 2.
