Peterborough Teen Facing Weapons Charges Following Incident At Kenner Collegiate

PETERBOROUGH-A 14-year-old Peterborough male is facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.

At approximately 7:30pm on December 14, 2023, officers responded to a weapons call for service at Kenner Collegiate Vocational Institute after staff chaperoning a winter dance had been made aware that a student had allegedly threatened several other students with a knife on a nearby trail.  Faculty located the student and took them to an office, however, the male refused to put the knife down according to police.  An officer arrived and asked the male to put the knife down, however, according to police he did not comply until the officer pointed but did not discharge their Conducted Energy Weapon at the suspect.  Then officers were able to take the male into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on January 8, 2024.
