Serious Single Vehicle Collision Closes Highway 115 In Both Directions Near Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 115 near Highway 7A in Cavan-Monaghan Township, resulting in one fatality.

Just before 9:00am on December 6, 2023, Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious collision on Highway 115 at Highway 7A. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle between the northbound and southbound lanes in the centre median. The vehicle had been travelling northbound on Highway 115 when it came in contact with a commercial motor vehicle before striking the guardrail according to police. The passenger side door was ripped off the vehicle by the guardrail and one occupant was thrown from the vehicle. The pickup truck vehicle came to rest a short distance further in the centre median.

A 34-year-old female has been pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

Another occupant of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Highway 115 re-opened at around 4pm

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
