Bonnie Crombie Elected New Ontario Liberal Leader

ONTARIO=Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie has been elected the new Ontario Liberal leader.

In her acceptance speech, Crombie thanked supporters.

“Wow. This is truly such an honour.” said Crombie. “Thank you. Thank you for your faith in me.”

Crombie won on the third and final ballot leaving the crowd cheering Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie. The vote was held at a leadership convention today.

The liberal party were decimated in the 2022 election winning only eight seats with Steven Del Duca at the helm.

“There’s no question the Ontario liberal is back,” said Crombie.

Crombie was running against MP Nate Erskine-Smith, MP Yasir Naqvi and MPP Ted Hsu.

“I listened to parents who are worried about their kids taking a bus to school for over an hour each way because the Ford government failed to support rural students. I talked with young, working professionals who see homeownership as a pipe dream. I heard from young people worried about their future and their kids because we are not protecting this planet.” said Crombie in her acceptance speech. “And I listened to seniors who are worried that they will not have the support they need — and deserve — to age with dignity. “There are so many challenges out there that are begging for smart, progressive solutions and real leadership.”

The next provincial election is in 2026.
