PETERBOROUGH-Police say a member of Peterborough County OPP attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on September 10, 2023, at approximately 6:15pm after allegedly observing it go through a stop sign on Buckhorn Road. According to the OPP the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed while passing vehicles unsafely. The officer was unable to complete the traffic stop but relayed vehicle information to other officers.
A short while later the vehicle was located.
35-year-old John Enriquez Guerron of Toronto ON, has been charged with Operation while impaired-alcohol, Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus, Dangerous operation and Flight from Peace Officer.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 10, 2023.
“The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.” said police.
