KAWARTHA LAKES-Karen and Robert Truckle of Omemee areĀ $100,000 richer after winning the top prize in Instant Power Up game.
Karen, 65, and Robert, 40, said they are frequent lottery players. Karen typically plays INSTANT tickets, whereas Robert is a weekly player of LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49. The mother-and-son duo have won some smaller prizes in the past, but this is their largest win to date.
Karen says she was heading to work when she decided to stop at the store and purchase two tickets. She played the first ticket and won a $30 prize. Then, she scratched the second ticket and was surprised to uncover a much greater windfall. āI couldnāt breathe,ā she shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings. āI shoved my ticket in my pocket and didnāt move my hands an inch. Before I left the store, I think the whole city already knew about our win!ā
She then called her son Robert to reveal the exciting news. āI didnāt believe her at first,ā said Robert. āI kept saying, āDonāt lose the ticket!ā and immediately drove to see her.ā
With his winnings, Robert plans to pay his bills and renovate his home. Karen purchased a new scooter and plans to complete some home renovations as well. āI donāt know how to feel yet,ā said Robert. āWhen I hold our cheque, itās finally going to feel real.ā
The winning ticket was purchased at Mister Convenience on King Street in Omemee.
