KAWARTHA LAKES-Kaitlyn Morrison is thanking the community for its support after her son was killed in a tragic accident in Oakwood.
On June 17 at approximately 11:34 am, officers responded, alongside Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, to a single-vehicle collision involving a child in Oakwood.
Police say one injured child was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased a short time later. The boy was identified as 5-year-old Colton Morrison.
A Go Fund Me was set up to aid the family and now they are saying thanks. Kaitlyn Morrison sent this statement to Kawartha 411 News:
“I wanted to personally thank everyone but I think that’s impossible so I will do it this way, thank you to everyone, friends, classmates, family, the community, strangers, co-workers, and teachers for the donations made through the GoFundMe page or personal donations, gift cards, meals and just support to us and reaching out to just be there for our family during this difficult time. Some days I can barely make it through my day, but I always have the support or encouraging words from someone. Five years was way too short of a time to have with Colton; however, we feel blessed he was ours and we have five years of memories to hold on to. For those of you who knew Colton well he was a spitfire. He loved hockey, baseball, and rugby. He loved to wrestle, fish, play Nerf guns with his big brother Austin and play games, train the dogs, and ride horses with his sister Peyton. He loved to spend time in the shop with dad, go for hot-rod rides and snuggle in our bed at night. I know many of you have shown your support by putting fishing rods on your front porch. Colton had a love for fishing that he got from his dad and big brother. For me Colton taught me that nothing in life is a guarantee and that we need to enjoy life to the fullest as none of us know how much time we have. Even though we all have a huge hole in our hearts, he is the reason we move forward daily. I know Colton is always with us. I wish every day that I could have one more day to tell him how much he meant to us and how much we miss him, but I have faith he knows that he will be in our hearts and memories forever.”
Our condolences to all of Colton’s friends and family.
