Routine Sanitary Sewer Flushing In Lindsay Starting July 24 And Continuing Until August

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City says routine sanitary sewer flushing will be taking place in various areas of Lindsay beginning on July 24, 2023 and continuing until August 2023. Hours of work will be 7am to 5pm from Monday to Friday. The contractor will be starting work in the areas of Russel, William, and Glenelg Streets.

This preventative maintenance process is necessary to remove settled and accumulated material and to eliminate the potential for sanitary sewer main surcharging which can result in damage to property according to City officials.

During this process, the contractor will be setting up apparatus at manholes in the roadway and releasing pressurized water through the sanitary sewer main pipe to remove any buildup. As a result, a bubbling and/or vacuum effect may be noticed in your drains and toilets. It is recommended that residents close all toilet seats and cover any floor drains. In addition, in order to prevent sewer gases from migrating into the home, it is important to refill all plumbing traps by running the water in your sinks and floor drains after the work is complete.
