PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough Police received information of a housing unit takeover on Downie Steet in the City of Peterborough on July 17th.
Housing unit takeovers occur when predators use drugs, violence, sex and social and economic supports to manipulate tenants into accommodating unwanted occupations of their housing space according to Toronot’s Homeless Hub.
One male was located and taken into custody. During a search after arrest, police say officers seized:
- 42.9 grams cocaine
- 20 grams of pink fentanyl
- 29.5 grams of marijuana
- 2 cell phones
- $2915 cash
- 31 tablets of Percocet
A quantity of handgun rounds was also seized during the investigation according to police. As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Scarborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
- Possession of a scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
- Possession of a scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Percocet)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under (cash)
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court for a bail hearing
