Observant Public And Officers In Kawartha Lakes Results In Seven Impaired Driving Arrests

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated traffic complaints and observations from officers resulting in seven people being arrested for impaired operation.

Police say between June 3, 2023 and June 7, 2023 officers on general patrol entered into 7 impaired driving investigations and arrested drivers, charged them with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired (drug and alcohol)
  • Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration over 80
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The accused parties are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

“If you plan on consuming drugs or alcohol please arrange a safe ride home. If you suspect someone to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired please call 9-1-1.” said police in a press release.
