Bancroft OPP Lays Charges For Transmitting Intimate Images Without Consent

KAWARTHA LAKES-Bancroft Detachment OPP has arrested and charged one individual from Hastings Highlands in connection with an incident related to inappropriate images.

On April 6, 2023, the Bancroft OPP responded to a report of a person sharing intimate images without consent.

A resident of Hastings Highlands has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Transmit intimate images without consent
  • Extortion
  • Voyeurism

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on April 25, 2023.

“It is an offence to transmit intimate images without consent. Everyone who knowingly publishes, distributes, posts it online or shares an intimate image of a person, knowing that the person depicted in the image did not give their permission, is committing an offence. An intimate image is defined as being one in which the subject is nude, partially nude or engaged in explicit sexual activity, regardless of their age.” said the OPP.
