Man Charged With Endangering Life After Gas Lines Broken At Lindsay Residential And Commercial Building

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay man on probation and wanted for failing to comply with probation is facing charges after a gas line was broken, spewing natural gas into an apartment building.

On Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 5:09pm, Kawartha Lakes Police Service, Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service and Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Services responded to King Street residential and commercial building in Lindsay. Police received a 911 call reporting the odour of natural gas and someone yelling.

The building was evacuated and a male was located inside the basement of the building. Through investigation, it was determined the male had broken the gas lines allowing the gas to escape. Witnesses say when firefighters got the suspect out of the building his lips were blue and he was wearing very little clothing. The male was transported to the hospital to be medically assessed.

22-year-old Cameron Buma of Lindsay has been charged with mischief endangering life and fail to comply with probation order X2. At the time of his arrest the male was also wanted on two warrants. He has been also been charged with the offences of failing to comply with probation order X4 and fail to comply with appearance notice.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on 

No one in the area we injured as a result of the incident according to police.
