Two Dogs Have Died After Going Through The Ice Near Seagrave

KAWARTHA LAKES-Two dogs perished after going through the ice on Nonquon River near Seagrave.

Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue and EMS responded to Robinglade Avenue just after 1pm on Monday after reports that two dogs had gone through the ice. Kawartha Lakes District Fire Chief Dave Kish says the dog owner went into the water to try to rescue the animals. He made it out of the water with assistance from a neighbour but had to be attended to by EMS.

One fire station responded to the call.

Kish advises residents not to attempt to rescue their pet if it goes through the ice, call 911 instead. He also says residents should avoid the ice.

“Right now, no ice is safe ice. Please stay off,” says Kish.
