Kawartha Lakes Man Charged With Assault, Possession Of Stolen Property Obtained By Crime In Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP charged a suspect after responding to reports of a suspicious person entering vehicles on Gifford Drive in Peterborough.

Police say the suspect fled the scene when they were confronted by the owner of a vehicle that had been entered. The owner followed the suspect and provided location updates to the Provincial Communication Centre. Officers arrested the suspect in Peterborough.

42-year-old Russell Farthing of City of Kawartha Lakes, has been charged with:

• Possession property obtained by crime-under $5000-three counts

• Failure to comply with undertaking

• Failure to comply with release order-two counts

• Assault

• Use of credit card-eight counts

The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough later today.
