KAWARTHA LAKES-Eight members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service (one retired)will join officers from across Ontario and beyond today for the funeral service of Toronto Police Cst Andrew Hong.
Hong was allegedly ambushed and fatally shot while on a lunch break during a training exercise on September 12, at around 2:15 p.m. Constable Andrew Hong, of Traffic Services, stopped in the area of Argentia Rd. and Winston Churchill Blvd. at a local Tim Horton’s restaurant. Police say the 48-year-old officer was in Mississauga taking part in a joint training exercise with officers from Peel and York.
A private funeral service for Constable Andrew Hong will be held today September 21, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Toronto Congress Centre.
Beginning at approximately 9:45 am, Toronto Police Service members will begin marching from Canlan Sports (1120 Martin Grove Road) southbound on Martin Grove Road to the TCC, North Building.
Members will position on both sides of Martin Grove Road to honour the funeral cortege as they pass by. The cortege will include Cst Hong’s motorcycle.
