Highway 115 At Airport Road Near Peterborough Closed After Fatal Crash

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP has closed Highway 115 near Airport Road due to a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. this afternoon.

A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) was stopped in the northbound lanes due to traffic when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The pickup truck was then rear-ended by a second CMV according to police. The lone occupant of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at scene.

The deceased will not be identified until next of kin notifications are completed.

The northbound lanes of Highway 115 will be closed between Airport Road and County Road 28 for several hours while members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene. Detours are in place.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 705-742-0401 or 1-888-310-1122.
