Parks Canada Says Bobcaygeon Swing Bridge On Schedule To Reopen This Fall

KAWARTHA LAKES-Parks Canada says the Bobcaygeon Swing Bridge is on schedule to reopen this fall. The announcement comes after a number of delays.

Officials say in recent weeks, new mechanical components and pedestrian decking installations have taken place on the bridge and the project team continues to have reopening of the Bridge scheduled during the fall of 2022.

Hydraulic equipment being manufactured for the Bridge is expected to arrive on site in September. Other remaining tasks include completion of concrete works on the bridge abutments, installation of the remaining mechanical components, installation of the vehicular bridge deck, hydraulic and electrical component installation, and paving. Commissioning of the bridge will follow.

The enhanced pedestrian access over the upper gates of Lock 32 and its access paths will continue to remain open until the bridge project has been completed.
