Police Watchdog Investigating Death Of Man In Oshawa

DURHAM REGION-The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 44-year-old man today in Oshawa.

Preliminary information from the SIU suggests the following:
  • At approximately 5:30 a.m. on August 28, 2022, an individual contacted the Durham Regional Police Service as he had concerns about his brother’s well-being.
  • Officers were dispatched to a home in the area of Harmony Road North and Adelaide Avenue East.
  • Upon arrival, officers said they heard a sound coming from the garage. They entered and allegedly saw the man with a self-inflicted injury. He was taken to hospital.
  • While in hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.
Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case according to the SIU.
The post-mortem is scheduled for Tuesday.
POne subject officer and three witness officials have been designated at this time.
