Additional Attempted Murder Charges Laid After Three People Stabbed In Omemee In July

KAWARTHA LAKES-The OPP has laid additional charges and upgraded two previous Aggravated Assault charges in relation to an ongoing attempted murder investigation in Omemee.

Police received a disturbance call at an apartment building in Omemee on July 2, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Four people were located injured and transported to hospital according to police. One person was arrested.

The accused, who will not be named in order to protect the identify of the victims, now stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Attempt Murder, section 239(1)(b) – three counts
  • Assault with Weapon, section 267(a) – two counts
  • Fail to Comply Probation, section 733.1(1)
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking, section 145(4)(a)

The accused remains in custody with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
