Fentanyl, Cocaine, Crystal Meth, Gold And Silver Bars And Cash Seized In OPP Investigation In Bancroft

KAWARTHA LAKES-Fentanyl, cocaine, crystal meth, cash, gold and silver are among items seized by the OPP in an investigation in Bancroft.

On August 2, 2022, members of the OPP Street Crime Unit, assisted by the Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and members of the Bancroft Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Bridge Street East.

Officers say they seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and psilocybin. They also recovered small gold and silver bars, hundreds of dollars in cash and a variety of stolen property. While the investigation continues, two local break-ins have been resolved according to police.

Twelve people were arrested at the scene.

David Joseph VAUTOUR, age 59 of Bancroft is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – two counts
  • Possession of Schedule 3 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime – CC sec. 354(1)(a)

This accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on August 4, 2022.

David Thomas VAUTOUR, age 33 and Zon RAWCLIFFE, age 36, both from Bancroft, are charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – two counts
  • Possession of Schedule 3 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2)
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime – Criminal Code (CC) 345(1)(a)

Christina HUDSON, age 37 and Erika OLMSTEAD, age 28, both from Maynooth are charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule 1 Substance – CDSA sec. 4(1)

Joseph KIDMAN, age 48 of Bancroft, Ashley SHAW, age 32 of Oshawa and Joshua WELSH, age 39 of Gorham are charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – two counts
  • Possession of Schedule 3 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2)
  • Fail to Comply with a Probation Order – CC sec.733.1(1)

Kent BOWERS, age 39 is charged with

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – two counts
  • Possession of Schedule 3 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2)
  • Fail to Comply with a Release order – CC sec.145(5)(a)

Joseph VAUTOUR, age 61 of Bancroft is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – two counts
  • Possession of Schedule 3 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2)

Two individuals were released with no charges being laid.

All of these accused, with the exception of one with a scheduled bail hearing, were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on October 25, 2022.
