County Road 121 Closed In Both Directions North Of Fenelon Falls Due To Fatal Collision

KAWARTHA LAKES-County Road 121 is closed in both directions north of Fenelon Falls following a collision                              

On August 1, 2022, at approximately 6:45 p.m., City of Kawartha Lakes OPP and emergency services responded to the head-on collision which involved two vehicles.

Initial investigation revealed that two vehicles were travelling at a high rate of speed according to police. Police say while attempting to pass other vehicles, one vehicle crossed the center line and collided head on with another vehicle and caught fire.

The fire department put out the fire of both engulfed vehicles.

The driver and passenger of one vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The lone driver of the oncoming vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

County Road 121 will remain closed for several hours as the investigation continues. Detours are set up at County Road 8 and Bury’s Green Road/County Road 37.

The identity of the deceased will be withheld to allow for family notification.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken with investigators is asked to call City of Kawartha Lakes OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
