Ornge Lands On The Football Field At IE Weldon Secondary School In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-Residents in the area of IE Weldon Secondary School in Lindsay got a shock on Wednesday when an Ornge medical helicopter landed on school grounds.

Witnesses say police and EMS were on the scene when a patient was transferred to the helicopter and transported to another medical facility. Details are scarce but Paramedic Chief Randy Mellow told Kawartha 411 News a male patient was transported by helicopter due to a traumatic leg injury. It’s unclear what hospital the patient was taken to.

“The patient met trauma criteria for a helicopter response. At that point the flight crew (medics) make a decision as to the most appropriate destination. KL medics may have been privy to the decision but final destination may be decided as the aircraft prepares to launch and medical consult is initiated by the flight crew. As the final decision would not have been confirmed, it does not form part of the patient record for us. The “destination” for our purpose is “helicopter rendezvous”.”

KLPS says it was in relation to a medical call from the Dunsford area.

Here is video of the patient transfer.

This is the flight pattern.
