Impaired Driving Charges Laid After Motorcycle Crash On Serpent Mounds Road

PETERBOROUGH-A 62-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after a crash on Serpent Mounds Road on June 25th

Peterborough County OPP responded to a motorcycle collision on Serpent Mounds Road at approximately 6:00pm after the driver lost control and entered the ditch according to police. The driver suffered minor injuries.

Michael Haines of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and motorcycle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 3, 2022.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
