KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay man is facing drug and weapons charges after an incident in Lindsay on Friday.
Police say officers received a complaint of a robbery that occurred earlier that evening.
It is alleged that the victim was walking to work when she ran into an acquaintance who offered to have a friend provide her with a ride. When the friend arrived the two got into the vehicle that drove to the area of Ridout Street and Georgian Street in Lindsay. The woman reported that when she attempted to exit the vehicle, she was grabbed and confronted over a prior conflict involving the parties in the vehicle. She was able exit the vehicle, while attempting to escape she fell to the ground suffering minor injuries. The accused stood over her and displayed a firearm before fleeing the area according to police.
The accused was located and arrested in the early morning hours of June 25. Police say at the time of his arrest the accused was found in possession of a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl and cash.
46-year-old Ronald Fitzgerald of Lindsay has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of weapons for dangerous purpose, theft under $5000, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on August 4, 2022. Â
