KAWARTHA LAKES-Just after 12 noon today Peterborough Police responded to the parking lot at Northcrest Plaza, 184 Marina Blvd regarding a possible shooting involving two male suspects, wearing balaclavas.
Upon arrival, police say they located 5 to 6 victims between the ages of 15-17 years in the parking lot and quickly determined several of the victims had multiply injuries caused by an air soft rifle. Airsoft guns are replica toy guns used in airsoft sports. They are designed to shoot plastic bullets.
Police say the two suspects fled riding bicycles.
A short time later police received information from neighbours in the Evans Drive/ Tobin Court area advising the suspects were on their street.
After a short pursuit police arrested the two suspects. A replica style black AR-15 air soft rifle with over a 100 round magazine capacity on one of the males according to police. Both were taken into custody without incident.
An 18-year-old Peterborough man is facing the following charges:
- S. 244.1 Causing bodily harm with intent-air gun or pistol
- S. 88 Weapons Dangerous
- S. 270.01 (1) Assault with a Weapon
- S. 90 (1) Carry a Concealed Weapon
- S. 351(2) Disguise with intent to commit an Indictable Offence
A 14-year-old Peterborough youth is facing the following charges:
- S. 244.1 Causing bodily harm with intent-air gun or pistol
- S. 88 Weapons Dangerous
- S. 270.01 (1) Assault with a Weapon
- S. 90 (1) Carry a Concealed Weapon
The victims did not seek medical attention.
