Bancroft OPP Investigating Sudden Death Of 23-Month-Old Child

KAWARTHA LAKES- Bancroft OPP is investigating the sudden death of a 23-month-old child.

Officers were called to a parking lot on Monck Road for a child that was located with no vital signs ON June 23, 2022, at about 3:45 p.m. Police say the child was transported to the hospital by ambulance and shortly after pronounced deceased. The identity of the child is being withheld at this time.

An investigation was commenced by the OPP Bancroft Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). The OPP investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, is continuing.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
