Police Confirm Body Found In Port Hope Is Madison Chard

PORT HOPE-A heartbroken Mark Chard took to Facebook on Friday morning saying his daughter, who had been missing for a month, was found dead.

“Day 31- Please take down all posters of our beautiful Madison! She’s at rest with the angels. Thank you to everyone who tried to help in this very broken world.
Leave our family to grieve and if you have any information, contact the police so our daughter can Rest In Peace!!”

 

Family and friends had been desperately searching for 29-year-old Madison Chard who was last seen in Port Hope on April 19th.

Port Hope Police Service confirmed this morning that Madison Chard was located deceased in a wooded area in Port Hope yesterday.

Police say Port Hope Police and the Ontario Community Emergency Assistance Program Search and Rescue were searching for Chard when they found the body around 3pm Thursday along the Ganaraska River near the downtown.

The body has been transferred to the Coroner’s office in Kingston for an autopsy and official identification.

The circumstances surrounding her death are now under investigation with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial  Police. At this time anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 905-885-8123  or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
